[booknow]Overview
Know your mash tun from your lauter tun? How about your whirlpool from your wort receiver? After taking a 25-minute guided tour through Stellenbrau’s microbrewery, you’ll be more than equipped to wow your friends with the interesting tidbits you picked up along the way.
A knowledgeable tour guide will show you all the ins and outs of Stellenbrau’s operation – from which barley and hops are used to the different processes that go into crafting their four distinct types of craft beer, and why the local craft-beer industry has boomed in the last five years.
Once you’ve worked up a sufficient thirst, you’ll head up to the Tap Room, where your guide will talk you through each of Stellenbrau’s beers: the flagship Craven Craft Lager, voted top lager at the Global Craft Beer Awards in Berlin in 2014 for its hoppy bitterness and rich malt aftertaste; the Alumni Ale, with its caramel, strawberry and slightly smoky characteristics; the first-of-its-kind, patented Governor’s Red Lager, which has been infused with rooibos and honeybush teas; and the crowd-pleasing Jonkers Weiss, a light, refreshing Hefeweizen-style beer with hints of banana and cloves. The best part? Once you’ve found your favourite, you can order a draught of it to enjoy at the end of all that thirsty work. Cheers!
